About Us

EMREIA is located in Fort Gratiot, Michigan. The group was started in 1987 as the Blue Water Property Owners Association with about a half dozen members. The original goals dealt with tenant screening and a need for help with maintenance problems.

EMREIA grew to more than 300 members and provides a great many services to both association members and the entire community. There is a full time office, providing such services as: vacancy lists, credit reports, tenant screening, forms, books and tapes, educational opportunities and much more.

One major EMREIA achievement has been the compilation of a data base of every eviction in St. Clair county since 1988. The group also has a professional looking 12 page monthly newsletter, and meetings are held the first Friday every other month starting in January. EMREIA jumped into the computer age in a big way in order to better utilize the extensive legal proceedings information in their data base and provide 24 hour on-line service to members. The Association launched their own Windows based computer BBS in July of 1995. It allowed members to log on, select evictions, type in a name, and determine if the tenant applicant has ever been evicted in their county. The report listed tenant name, landlord name, date and case number. The BBS was very comprehensive and offered a tremendous amount of other information as well.

In July 1996, EMREIA joined the World Wide Web and our pages here continue to grow. Member landlords have the opportunity to search several databases from this site including: evictions and rental housing wanted. They can also list their vacancies to the database that search-able by tenants and the public everywhere.
